Security leaders and industry experts explore how to prepare for the post-quantum transition while protecting business continuity
, /PRNewswire/ — Keyfactor, the leader in trust infrastructure for the AI and quantum era, today announced the release of a new Cybercrime Magazine film, sponsored by Keyfactor, examining how organizations can prepare for the transition to post-quantum cryptography (PQC). The film brings together perspectives from Fortune 500 and Global 2000 Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs), cybersecurity leaders and cryptography experts.
Quantum computing will challenge the cryptography that protects enterprise data, systems and machine identities. Readiness must be driven by business risk, not predictions about when Q-Day will arrive. Q-day is the point at which quantum computers can break widely used public-key cryptography. Organizations need clear ownership, an understanding of their exposure and a plan to coordinate change across the business.
PQC standards and government transition requirements give organizations a clearer basis for action. The White House’s Executive Order further underscores the urgency of the transition, directing federal agencies to migrate high-value assets and high-impact systems to PQC for key establishment by the end of 2030 and digital signatures by the end of 2031.
“PQC migration is a multiyear program, not a project with a finish line at Q-Day,” said Chris Hickman, Chief Security Officer at Keyfactor. “It requires executive support, clear ownership and priorities tied to business risk. Organizations need to understand where cryptography is used, what it protects and where the greatest risks lie, then build a plan they can execute across the teams and systems that depend on it.”
Keyfactor helps organizations move from PQC awareness to coordinated migration and continuous crypto-agility. Keyfactor brings the cryptographic expertise and best-of-breed solutions organizations need to move from PQC planning to execution. Its open platform connects cryptographic discovery, PKI, certificate lifecycle management and signing, helping teams identify exposure, modernize infrastructure and coordinate migration across complex environments. Together, these capabilities build the crypto-agility to adapt as standards, technologies and threats evolve.
“Cryptographic change won’t end with PQC,” said Ted Shorter, Chief Technology Officer at Keyfactor. “Organizations that build crypto-agility now will be better prepared to adapt as standards evolve and new threats emerge. That readiness will be critical to protecting digital trust well beyond the PQC transition.”
Experts featured in the short film include (listed in order of appearance):
- Ted Shorter, Chief Technology Officer, Keyfactor
- Chris Hickman, Chief Security Officer, Keyfactor
- Diane Janosek, Former NSA Training Director, National Cryptologic School
